Lead Operator
  • Hours 8.00 – 17.00 Monday to Friday

  • Wage NMW – 10 per hour depending age and experience

Location: Based from, Unit 1, Howden Industrial Estate, Tiverton
Hours: 8:00 – 17:00
Pay Band: (C) NMW up to 10.00
Driver License / Allocated Van: Full UK (6 points or less) / none

 
Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, motivated individual to join our fun, hardworking exterior cleaning team. The role of Lead Operator is to be the “right hand person” to the Site Supervisor. Consistently and competently performing practical tool-based tasks which are the core of what DSC does, always embodying the values that we champion.

Regularly left alone on-site mid-project at Supervisors discretion and expected to manage the site within a deputy role. You will be expected to handle individual responsibilities throughout the working day, this will include own time / tasks and complete set targets as well as overseeing other junior members. It is essential that you consistently display good preparation before site work begins; for an excellent standard of workmanship at all times, and a timely (unrushed, well presented) completion of the day’s objective key results.

Previous experience and a comprehensive understanding of using hand tools and small plant machinery is essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills combined with a can-do attitude and calm, professional manner.

Progressive completion of training and personal development of required skills and qualifications to progress within the Company (CSCS, First Aid, IPAF). Likewise, a confidence to contribute to whole aspects of site completion under Site Supervisors guidance by ownership of various aspects.

 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Off site prep and On site prep: To select tools, clothing & protective equipment; pack truck/trailer, moving plants and furniture and set up machines and ladders.
  • Site work working across Devon
  •  Machine operation: To operate machinery in accordance with company procedure.
  • Labouring: To complete manual tasks as instructed by line manager to ensure smooth and safe completion of daily site objectives.
  • Minor repairs / remedial work: where appropriate, to assist with basic tasks on site.
  • Completion & de-mobilising: To tidy up, rinse down, pack away equipment, replace plants and furniture. Unload back at base, ready for the next day.
  • Records & feedback: report to Site Supervisor details of work completed.
  • Training: commitment to training and development of required skills and qualifications to progress within Skills Matrix.

 
Qualifications & Attributes:

  • You must hold a full UK driving license with a low-level history of driver convictions or penalties. License category B+E (trailer) an advantage.
  • The ability to monitor the performance of yourself or other individuals to make improvements or take corrective actions.
  • Previous site work or construction industry experience preferred, with a foundational knowledge of operating hand and power tools.
  • It is important to be a keen team player and enjoy the inclement weather that Devon provides.
