Render Cleaning | Fursdon House, Exeter

Project Details

Fursdon House is one of Devon’s oldest family homes and traditional farming estate. With the house and gardens open to the public and offering luxury holiday accommodation a good impression is essential. We were asked to clean the main buildings render, paintwork and guttering removing all dirt and staining caused by algae growing on the surface.

Solution

The rendered surface of Fursdon House looks magnificent when clean, but had become discoloured and dirty as the result of environmental and organic pollutants.

Rather than painting the render, which is costly and where in many cases the algae rapidly grows through, the team conducted a thorough water cleaning of the whole building.

We follow a three step process when cleaning render

  • Soft Water Wash
Using a low pressure water spray we gently wash all the surfaces, removing all loose dirt and grime. Unlike traditional pressurewashers, our low pressure soft washer protects the render from damage through excess water being pushed through cracks and damage creating frost pockets. Find out more about softwashing in our Knowledge Hub.
  • Treatment
We then apply a fast acting biocide to kill the algae and moss and inhibit regrowth.
  • Final Rince
Once the biocide has had time to work we return to site to wash and rince the surfaces of remaining dirt, moss and algae removing any stubborn staining by hand.

Completed in under 2 days, by getting to the root cause of the staining, the result was quicker, longerl asting and more cost effective than repainting.
